After numerous honors, including being named Florida Player of the Year as a quarterback at Pahokee High School, Anquan Boldin attended Hinds Community College and then Florida StateUniversity. In 23 games at FSU, Anquan caught 118 passes for 1,790 yards and 21 touchdowns. The former quarterback was extremely versatile, playing wherever the coaching staff needed him. During his FSU career he also rushed 21 times for 86 yards and completed 7 of 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
His versatility was on display for a national audience during his final college game -- the Sugar Bowl versus Georgia. After injuries and suspensions depleted FSU's QB corps he played both quarterback and wide receiver positions against the Bulldogs. In that game he had three receptions for 34 yards, and a 5-yard TD, and completed 6 of 14 passes of 78 yards and a 40-yard score.
Anquan was then drafted in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals. As a rookie he set an NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in his first game (217) and tied Bill Sims for most yards from scrimmage by a rookie in his first game (217). He finished the season with 101 catches and was the NFL offensive rookie of the year.
On January 3, 2009, in his first post-season game against the Atlanta Falcons in the wildcard round, Anquan had a 71-yard catch and run for a touchdown. Several weeks late, in the Cardinals' Super Bowl XLIII loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he caught 8 passes for 84 yards.
He is the fastest player in NFL history to reach 400, 500 and 600 career receptions. During his seven years with Arizona he earned three Pro Bowl appearances and finished as the Cardinals' all-time receptions leader.
In March 2010 Baltimore Ravens acquired Anquan in exchange for the team's 2010 third, fourth and fifth round picks. He then agreed to a three-year contract. He was awarded AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his September 26 performance against the Cleveland Browns, a game in which he caught 8 passes for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. Anquan finished his first season with the Ravens with 64 receptions for 837 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Established in 2004, The Anquan Boldin Foundation is dedicated to expanding the educational and life opportunities of underprivileged children. The organization's core mission is to support after-school programs, full-time scholarships, dental care and food programs.
